In Mumbai, the final rites of the esteemed actor Manoj Kumar took place in Vile Parle on Saturday. The beloved star, known for pioneering patriotic themes in Hindi films, passed away on Friday after a lengthy illness.
His body was transported from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital to his home at Goswami Towers at 10:00 AM, with the cremation occurring at Pawan Hans crematorium.
Images from his residence depicted family and staff preparing floral tributes, while an ambulance decorated with tri-colour flowers, representing the national flag, carried his remains.
The ceremony was attended by friends and family, honoring him with a state funeral and a Guard of Honour.
Notable figures from the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, and their sons Abhishek and Arbaaz, were present, along with other industry members like Prem Chopra and Raza Murad.
Kunal Goswami, Manoj Kumar's son, expressed his profound grief, sharing that despite the pain, his father passed away peacefully. He recounted the moments leading up to his father's passing, revealing that he woke up at 4:30 AM to find his father unwell, a condition he had been facing for some time. He stated, “We were praying for his pain to ease. The hospital and his staff were incredibly supportive.”
Goswami expressed gratitude for his father's peaceful departure, stating, “Tomorrow we will leave the hospital at 9, arrive home at 10, and proceed to Pawan Hans for cremation at 11. I will always remember his films.”
